The story behind Qe2 Show bar and the Opening Night 20th July 2007.

The New Qe2 Show Bar was opened by the British Consulate.

The running weeks up to the opening of the Qe2 Showbar was one of the most terrifying thing we have ever came across, People approaching us saying its the wrong thing to open a bar in the corner of the Yumbo In Gran Canaria.You will never make it there, The last bar there was Dolly´s. We knew the two Guys who had Dollys bar, Lee and Mark.These two guys tried there best to keep Dollys alive as we knew them very well as Friends. Lee and Mark on many occasions came to us for advice on the bar they ran very well, many locals and tourists came to the bar to support them. But times fell hard on both, Lee and Mark as well as most Bar owners in Gran Canaria. And Dollys Bar Came to an end. Standing empty now for over 6 months DollysWas gone....After lots of talking, sleepless nights, and pulling our hair out (Ha Ha)....The owners of Qe2 Bar (Neil & Dave).Took the opportunity of  looking at the empty venue, "Empty" was not the word there was nothing from wall to wall only space with a big bar in the center taking most of the space up in the bar.

We knew that the bar was in the corner like people were saying to us, but we still decided on looking at the bar. We decided to take it over after many discussion's between Neil and Dave.. Weeks of hard work and Renovating the bar with Design and Build.

The New Qe2 Show Bar was Born..

After lots of hard work renovating all the staff got together cleaned and made QE2 Show bar what it is today. 3 New arrivals came to the team here at the new Qe2showbar.

 Ms Belinda Scandal, Miss Starlet Skye, Mr Michael Marouli..

Ms Belinda Scandal and Miss Starlet Skye, worked in Cafe La Belle. It All Started at a stall in the Yumbo Center one night. One of the owners  (Dave), had bought a D&G dog tag from a Stall in the Yumbo. One day wearing the dog tag at work a friend  (Mal) asked Dave  where did you get that dog tag, so he told him, He asked me if i would take him to where i got it, so off we went....

When standing at the stall a voice coming from behind Dave, Miss Starlet Skye asking if there was any work at the bar. This being the old Qe2 Bar. I said sorry we have nothing knowing that we were moving bars we had no jobs and not knowing if the new bar would take off. That night both Ms Belinda Scandal and Miss Starlet Skye Came into the bar talking to Neil The other owner of Qe2bar. Asking for work, Neil Saying to them I'm very sorry we have nothing. But if you can maybe wait a few weeks we are opening a new bar here in the Yumbo. not saying the location of the new bar, As no one knew except the staff at the bar. Belinda and Skye Left Cafe La Belle on Personal matters. But HEY!! guys its nothing to do with us. Belinda and Skye Came into the bar night after night asking for jobs, after nearly a week of coming in to the bar chatting to Neil, Neil not giving in to them wanting jobs.

 He said come in tomorrow and if you fill the bar i will think about jobs. Well what happened after that the bar was full, Skye just pulling them in off the street as they were passing the bar.. Belinda waiting on the terrace serving drinks. What was going on two very well talented artists working on a terrace serving drinks and taking orders. I just could not believe my eyes. This was not for them. But after talking to them they said that they loved it, it was a job and a change from what they were doing. Night after night went bye with Belinda and Skye working on the terrace along with Michael joined us about two weeks before. They had worked together before at a bar Michaels Show bar, Them being the show team there for many years. So reunited once again they all worked as a team with the rest of the staff there. Well as you can guess we gave them jobs. Not long after the Qe2bar was sold. And in the pipe lines the new bar was about to be opened. After weeks of work the new bar was opened Qe2 Showbar.On the 20th July 2007. The Show Team got together rehearsing and building shows. The new bar was born, the opening night was a success old faces and new and lots of support from other bar owners. Night after Night went bye with the shows being something new here in the Yumbo.

Ms Belinda Scandal approached Neil and Dave and asked if she could do panto. (PANTO). I thought to myself would this work. She said she has allways wanted to do panto. So we agreed to it, and the work began on Aladdin. Involving Neil one of the owners of Qe2 Show bar. Neil going to be Widow Twanky. Neil after looking at photos on the Internet said

 No Way..(ha ha) "are you getting me dressed up like that."

 So i thought who could we get to fill the part. One person came to my  mind straight away, this being Baroness Fonda Cock. I called Fonda and asked if she would like to take part in panto at Qe2 Show bar she agreed. She fit the part well Fonda working for us before as a host in Qe2bar with the very popular Play your cards right. So Fonda taking the part Window Twanky. Neil then Became The Genie of the lamp. The panto Took place over the Christmas Period 2007,

Going very well. lots of bookings and turning people away night after night the panto became very popular. taking reservations on bookings, The bar was full every night. Looking back now to what people said its wrong to open there. We took the risk and here we are still going strong in the new venue Qe2 Showbar.With new show for 2008 We are launching 8 new shows and the popular Rocky Horror Picture Show. Starting April. And yes once again panto, Yes its returning here at the Qe2Showbar with Belinda, Skye, Michael ,Neil and Fonda. They have been rehearsing every week putting it all together again, Working long hard hours putting it together and soon to be launched.

Staff coming and going from the bar. Loosing good workers and bad not naming anyone as that is not us, But now we have the best team we could ask for only one guy who left was Gary he was good but had to leave on personal matters it was sad to see him go. Gary is still around he is a good friend to us all at Qe2 Show bar and wish him all the best for the future. sorry to see Gary go. but we still had to go on Cat as the bar manager, and Karl the head waiter. And a new comer to Qe2Showbar is Darren.

Cat the Bar manager, and the team have been with us from the very first day the new bar was opened.Cat can be hard work at times but everyone loves her.But unfortunately she is leaving us at the end of May. We will all be sad to see her go, But she is missing England. I just want to take this opportunity to wish Cat all the best for the future and she will be missed here at Qe2Showbar. As She has put a lot of hard work into Qe2Showbar From the day She started with us. She has grown to be a very good Friend to us, Well not just a Friend She has Became Part of our Family we will miss her very much.Well we still have Her here at The bar for a few more weeks until she leaves......

Karl the head Waiter well what can we say about Karl he came to us not that long ago asking for a job. We set Karl on Part time and now within weeks he became full time with us,He is one of the if not the best Waiter we have had here at Qe2Showbar. He is quick and remembers every drink. And great with the customers, Always a smile on his face no matter what he is feeling, Karl is the most if not the best on the island at his work.. Thanks Karl Keep it up (ha ha)

The Show Team

Well where do i start?

These guys say they are the Qe2Showbar Show Team. They are not the show team these guys are the face of QE2Showbar.

They work hard bring you yes you spectacular shows every night, Here at the Show bar. I can not start to tell you how good these guys are, All I can Say is come to see these guys perform you will not be disappointed folks. i will promise you that.....Shows 7 nights a week come in and join us..we will make your holiday............

 Then Disaster struck us????

The Show team  Ms Belinda Scandal And Miss Starlet Skye, came to us and said they are leaving Qe2showbar to open there own venue..we then thought this is the end of Qe2showbar, how could we possibly go on with no show team everyone in the Yumbo Centre knowing of this except us the staff a Qe2showbar. A lot of our friends approching us, shocked and speachless at the news and what has happend to Qe2showbar, but with lots support from a lot of people and friendson the island its not the end for Qe2showbar its just the begging to a whole new start. As the saying go's (one door closes another one opens) And a grate opportunity to create new shows and new talent.so still strong as ever bigger and better Qe2showbar is still going strong with support from friends help and giving advice.As we all know the ship Titanic Sank, Not  the QeII, so just like the ship that still sails today the QE2showbar still go's on.......
